had for the last ten days here in the GI, an Israeli school class. And these days there was a total pretty exciting. Here are the highlights ...
We were told that the Israelis come between 10 and 11, but rather by 11 So are Simon, Andrew, Chandler (one Student from the U.S.) and I went for dinner to Stuttgart. This trip should be remembered as the "Struggle for Ribs" in the story ...
This was the goal:
clock went off at 16:45 in Schwäbisch Hall. Because we have had on the way to Stuttgart, but missed two exits and Heidi (my GPS) verpeilt generally something that we were the first at 18:30 clock here: http://schwanen-braeu.de/
where we wanted to Ribs are. This is a very good restaurant in Stuttgart, with good ribs (according to Simon). Unfortunately we were not the only ones that knew. When we got there, the restaurant was almost full and we had to sit somewhere in the far corner. Was us but no matter, as long as we get our ribs.
So we all ordered our drinks, and said ribs.
Then came the bad news: It takes at least 2 hours, we have Ribs, up ...
we look to the top: The Israelis are 10 to 11 Consequently, we did not have two hours.
So we are back out of the restaurant and Simon, his father called and asked for another restaurant Ribs in Stuttgart.
He has only called one, an American bar, a call which has unfortunately shown that they have no ribs.
Next try: The "Ary's. Supposedly there's Stuttgart's best ribs. The address: street Katzenbach 59. We continue with Heidi's help in the street and look Katzenbach # 59
65th .. 63rd .. 61st .. 57th .. 55th ..
Well. House number 59, there were not, there where 59 should be, there was only a dark, deserted house.
We therefore continue for some rum in the area and looking for someone to ask questions. An Asiatic told us then, "Yeah, that's over there." So let's go for "over there". And there are still lacking.
We again ask two types. They have no idea.
We ask an old grandpa. Tells us, that's over there. But that has been closed since NEM year ...
Simon So back on the phone with his father. Who says he looks again, and calls back. I get's too stupid and tell Andrew, he is to enter the address of KFC Heidi:
Simon's father calls back and tells us there is a restaurant, according to Internet "Drive", just a few minutes from us. We find this restaurant then. To walk slowly and deliberately to the entrance, to expect the worst.
But then everything goes like this:
Andrew's far left can not believe it. Simon is absolutely crazy. And I do not trust myself to be happy until I see the ribs in front of me on the plate.
Finally we had the ribs. It was now have 8 clock, more than three hours since we SHA los are.
Only this is not the end of the day, the Israelis were still on the road. The bus company that is supposed to take from the airport to SHA should us 30 minutes before they are in SHA call. Shortly after 8 rings Simons mobile phone ... Fortunately, they have just called to tell us that they are at 10 clock there. So we had our
Ribs gulp in a rush, and around 8:30 we set off again towards SHA.
At 21:30 the bus company calls again: "We are 10 minutes there," Heidi told us at the time, it's still 11 minutes to the hostel.
And then we drive, in fact, just prior's residence, Simon Chandler and get out, and just at the moment are the buses with the Israelis.
Not a second too early ...
That was my trip to Berlin. 5:45 clock went off. With a group of Israelis. At the same time ran in Berlin from here: http://www.spiegel.de/politik/deutschland/0, 1518,594847,00 html
shit Nazis.. And I with a group of Israeli Jews. Not necessarily the best combination. But fortunately, Berlin is great, and on Saturday we had a very good tour guide that took us to any herumgelotst Nazis.
also were also two students from the USA with it. While I so busy during the day with the Israelis have gone there once and I'm all over Berlin, I have repeated the same night with the two Americans. For all it was the first time in Berlin. Only I was there already relatively common, and I like it still do not. Although we have seen quite a few times this funny people, the Nazis passed me.
At first I was still pretty nervous, I was the only one from GI and pretty much responsible for the 21 16-year-old students. By the time I got me but then relaxed and talked with the Israelis, instead of constantly keeping them in all directions by Nazis on the lookout.
And since it has but a few "What the hell", where moments. A girl for example, has the 16th birthday had a nasal plastic surgery. WTF?
But well, except for those few moments where I'm just wondering, were really nice and cool it. Were not even particularly religious.
to handle and relatively easy. Only on Sunday we are in the Checkpoint Charlie Museum two lost because they went to buy cigarettes. Fortunately, the bus driver had then taken out and brought back. That was the only moment in which the teacher was really angry and upset, together the two ^ ^ For the rest of the journey they have then behaved.
the way the Israelis have been on the journey a suitcase including passport lost, but fortunately recovered. It has not surprised me, as I said in a Berlin that he believes he has his room key for SHA left in the hotel. So I call in to the hotel and tell her to look in the room. The hotel I wanted to call back. Unfortunately my phone battery is dead gone after this call. That was just 36 hours after I charged it. I had almost thrown the phone against the wall because I do not always can count on it. Since we are at this time but in the last restaurant at the residence were in Berlin, I'm just hoping that I no longer need the cell phone. I have lost the key given.
were Sunday night at 11 we returned to SHA. My phone did not work still. But the key is turned up again in a case of someone else. And all Israelis were back in SHA. And all the luggage and passports. And they do not even know what I noticed from the Nazis.
It was a complete success :-)
8:45 clock ringing my phone. It only vibrates, to be exact, but luckily I was already awake.
The Teacher of Israel's turn. A student can not find her passport. We have to go to the police to create a loss report, so they returned to Home can fly. The student was then in fact quite resolved (and smoking: - /) in front of the dorm, and she, the teacher and I went to the police station where I got us advance warning. After we had then waited 15 minutes in the first hallway, we had another 15 minutes after our loss report, which the police then faxed the same charge to the airline to Frankfurt.
And then I sent the men to 9:45 at last on the bus to Frankfurt. Of course not recount without again. As often as in the last week I think never counted to 21 ...
And now, presumably (hopefully!) At the airport in Frankfurt and wait for their return flight to Israel.
And what you realize how good the collaboration was with a group? On the amount of the gifts ^ ^:
Clockwise:
- a photo book of her hometown
- a magnetic key to a kind of church from her home town
- an address book with Hebrew alphabet. No idea what I do with it ^ ^
- a key chain with Hebrew characters
- an almond-scented soap or something
- and a Family Guy-pants of the students ^ ^ What the hell ^ ^
Well? quote from the teacher: "They love you." ^ ^ Tzz
was total, the one of the most entertaining groups to date. I'm looking forward is forward to the next ^ ^
